Large Residential Subdivision — Mackay

Major residential subdivision engineering package for a 150-lot estate in Mackay, including master drainage design, road network, and all utility services.

The Challenge

The site contained a significant waterway requiring a major box culvert crossing, and the master drainage design had to accommodate future upstream development without increasing downstream flood levels.

Our Solution

We undertook a full catchment hydraulic study using TUFLOW to model the culvert crossing and demonstrate neutral impact. The road network was designed to dual-use as a secondary drainage path, reducing earthworks by approximately 8,000 m³.

Outcomes

• Hydraulic study accepted by council on first submission
• Earthworks saving of ~$280,000 through optimised design
• All 150 lots settled within programme
